It's casual competition strategically designed with a great playlist as the backdrop to promote community. No one has a a win-at-all costs mentality.

5-Pitch Plucky® is inclusive baseball. Regardless of skill level, age, gender, or other grouping, everyone is able to compete because we've figured out how to level the playing field.

Between the modified rules and 'meatball' pitches, the ball is in play a lot.

For younger ballplayers, this means that they get a ton of reps gaining confidence. For adult ballplayers, this means they get lots of exercise.

Each game is only 80 minutes but still typically consists of four innings. We have an astounding 16-20 plate appearances per inning with around 78% of those resulting in a ball-in-play.

When the ball is in play, the action is lively. Everyone is always moving. No one is losing focus because it is constant action.

5-Pitch Plucky® was specificially designed to get more people INTO the game. Figuratively and literally.

We high-five each other a lot. Regardless of what team we're on that week, we build each other up. We compete casually, celebrating the joy of playing the game and being outside together laughing and joking.

We promote community building among our spectators too. They're encouraged to bring noisemakers and signs to add to the festive atmosphere.

We set the tone for a casual, yet competitive, game of fast-paced baseball by shouting:

What if I have never played baseball before?

So what?! If you have ever watched a baseball game then you are qualified to play. You'll love it! We've had people who have watched their kids play for years but never got on the other side of the fence who now play regularly. Kids who gave up on baseball in their early years have found 5-Pitch Plucky® to ignite their interest in playing again. Regardless of your experience or skill level, it's fun. Get INTO the game!

What if I have played baseball before...will I have fun with first timers?

We haven't come across a game yet that hasn't included a cross-section of player skills, gender, age, or physical characteristics (just look at some of the photos on this website!). Some games have had 10 year-olds playing with former MLB players. Every game has been a blast for everyone.

Can females play?

Heck yes. Of course they can and they have a blast. There have been so many females who have played 5-Pitch Plucky® we can't keep count. We welcome anyone who wants to throw, catch, and bat.

What does a typical season look like?

Seasons are eight games. We play at the same field on the same day at the same time, making it easier to coordinate on your calendar. Games are typically four innings and run no longer than an hour and a half.

Is attending practices required?

There are no practices. We show up each week for games and do our best. It's fun because it's really about the joy of the game, not the points on the board at the end. Kind of like life.

What if I can't make every game?

No problem. We understand busy schedules. The format is flexible so that if you can't play one game or two, we'll still field two teams and have a great time without you. We'll miss you, but we'll play without you. : )

What should I wear to a game?

Our youth players like to wear baseball pants so they can slide. The adults don't slide all that much so they typically wear shorts. Registered pluckers wear their reversible jerseys over a T-shirt. Cleats or tennis shoes are fine. We're out here to HAVE FUN.

What if I don't have a glove or a bat or a batting helmet?

Don't worry about spending money before playing, there are community gloves, helmets, and bats available at every game.

What types of baseball bats can be used in a 5-Pitch Plucky® game?

It depends. There are no bat restrictions for youth players. For adults in certain camaraderies, players will be assigned a particular type of bat so nobody gets hurt.
